Living the Mahal Spirit

"Mahal" in Filipino means "beloved". I've chosen to use the theme "Mahal Spirit" for this blog as more than just an endearment. It runs a lot deeper. It is an attitude, a gift, and a way of life.

It is bringing out the best in others, revealing the qualities, dreams, and passions that make others unique and special. Empowering each other to live at a level of inspiration, kindness, and joyfulness. It is unconditional acceptance, the inspiration to become the authentic self, the forgiveness of shortcomings. It is the recognition of the beauty and the gifts within, and believing the best in each other even when we are at our worst. That's the Mahal Spirit.This is the ambiance that I want to create in this blog.
I ask you to join me in this effort to restore small acts of kindness and encouragement in our daily lives. Let's be conscious in bestowing positive energy, loving thoughts, and kindness as we walk the path today. I need your Mahal Spirit in my life; and I promise to do my best to spread the Mahal Spirit in my daily walk today.

Joshua Tree, Nov 2014

Our senior pup, Pogo, turned 19 last November, and is now slowed down by arthritis. Our outings that used to be multiday backpacking, rock scrambling, crossing rivers, and some other strenuous and challenging activities have been adjusted to car camping. The adjustment is a little harsh since car camping doesn't offer the same taste of nature earned through sweat and tears. Nevertheless, here we were at Joshua Tree with our senior dog enjoying the desert with the beautiful sunsets and moon, the early morning hearty breakfast, some barbeque, bikes ride, and lots and lots of love and togetherness.
